Model: The Ugly Business of Beautiful Women Review

This book does exactly what the title says, it reveals the ugly side of the modeling business. However, it is an older book so you won't hear any recent names. There is another book out there, "Shut up and Smile" that covers more recent models. But the writing from that book is no comparison to this one. This book is by someone that knows how to write and the stories are very in-depth which can only make the book better. The pictures are also better in this book.

Skin Deep: Inside the World of Black Fashion Models Review

Skin Deep: Inside the World of Black Fashion Models

I loved this book from front to back. It gave me an inside perspective on how black models are treated in the fashion industry. After being brain washed and white washed by dozens of "Vogue," "Glamour," and "Cosmo" magazines, I had lost sight of how beautiful and elegant black models/women are. This is unfortunate but true and can only account for the racist attitudes and standards that Western society (especially America) has against ethnic (African, Asian, Latin, and Native American Indian) beauty. Ethnic beauty is copied and exploited. You can see it in every page of the most popular fashion magazines. I also read Eileen Ford's comment about this book. She was wrong wasn't she. Thank you for writing this book Ms. Summers. It is unquestionably a work of art.

Just like the business world, experience is very important. Knowing the right people with the right connections gets you far, but performing professionally takes you even further. So, it is no different in the modeling world. You need experience, the right exposure, and you need to be prepared to be professional in front of the right people. Working with Fortune 500 companies as spokesmodels or as runway or print models for high fashion houses are only a few of the many opportunities you can take. But many of us as the general public ask "How do we get there?" and "Who has those connections?" -- Kali Mitchell in collaboration with SCW Promotion, LLC a National Licensed Model and Talent Agency provide very detailed, real-world advice on becoming a successful working model. Most importantly, they describe how to break into the industry without spending thousands of dollars on photoshoots, agent fees, or comp/zed cards. They teach you exactly how to get paid bookings and continue expanding your modeling career and portfolio. They even talk about the tax benefits of working as a model. Working as a model for four years, I definitely agree that this book has everything you need including industry tips that make a difference not only in how you look, but the overall way in which you present yourself.
This book is also about integrity and respect while you pursue your modeling career. In addition, they describe the many categories and body types suited for professional modeling. Just as you would want to market yourself in the right way as a business professional, so you would want to do so in the right segment of modeling. You're guaranteed a much higher success rate if you are competing in the category that is best suited for your personality and look. Knowing all of the challenges on a first-hand basis, Kali and SCW Promotions really give you the knowledge and share experiences that will save you time and ensure that you are prepared. They give you the facts that ensure you stand out among your competition so that your clients will want to work with you time and again because they know you are reliable and professional. This book helps dispel many of the myths associated with the modeling industry.

There are over 20 modeling categories. Have you dreamed of being a model but have no idea how to get started? This book is a STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE on how to get into the modeling industry and obtain actual paid bookings. You will learn how to build a real working portfolio rather than paying thousands of dollars for one. What are comp cards? You will learn what really needs to go on a professional model's comp card to get you work. We cover the common myths of modeling and the most common mistake people make that keep them out of the industry. Vehicle Propulsion Systems: Introduction to Modeling and Optimization Review

Vehicle Propulsion Systems: Introduction to Modeling and Optimization

This is by far the best book on the topic I have found. If you plan to design or model any vehicle, but in particular a hybrid or electric vehicle, I recommend you own this book.
Specifically, a large portion of the mathematical models required for design-level calculations are available directly from the text. The text is very concise, making good use of external citations to remain thorough. Finally, the optimization case studies are very helpful in understanding hybrid design goals.
Highly Recommended for engineers and students with some experience in vehicles.

Swans and Pistols: Modeling, Motherhood, and Making It in the Me Generation Review

"May you live many lives" is often considered a blessing. But it may also be a curse. You can decide for yourself by reading this memoir which covers fashion, art, movies, theater, drugs, gangsters and, oddly linking them all, being and having an extremely original mother. A definite blessing is that Leon Bing is a damn good writer. I felt present at the events of her life, some of which I was glad happened to her and not me.

Introduction to Modeling and Control of Internal Combustion Engine Systems Review

Introduction to Modeling and Control of Internal Combustion Engine Systems
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
To take full advantage of this book you need a good background in control theory (mandatory!) and mechanics. The book has excellent information about the variables, approximations and all the stuff relating to gasoline and diesel engines. If you need a more in depth understanding of the principles sometimes explained superficially in "tunning engines books", this is the literature you need, but please have close to you a "mechanics for dummies" in case you get lost with the formulas.
This book has some references to an ECU's software guidelines but no program example is presented.
The drawbacks: in some figures the letters are missing or misplaced making them a quiz.
